Dubai Sports City

12Live listings

Dubai Sports City is a master community built around sport rather than decorated with it. Six major venues sit inside it, including the 25,000-seat Dubai International Stadium, the ICC Academy run in partnership with the International Cricket Council, and The Els Club, a 7,538-yard championship desert-links course designed by Ernie Els.

Housing splits cleanly between two characters. Victory Heights offers close to 1,000 villas and townhouses set around the golf fairways, and Canal Residence West offers apartment towers along a canal promenade, with the mixed-use Sports Village at the centre of the venues.

The community sits on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), roughly 20 minutes from Downtown Dubai. There is no metro station inside it. RTA feeder buses F34 and F37 link residents to the Red Line at Dubai Internet City and Mall of the Emirates rather than a walk-in station.

Location and access

Dubai Sports City's official address puts its Gate No.1 on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), which is the community's main highway access.

There is no metro station inside Dubai Sports City. RTA feeder buses do the connecting: route F34 runs between Sports City and Victory Heights East Gate and the Dubai Internet City metro bus stop, and route F37 runs from the Arena Tower to Mall of the Emirates Bus Station on the Red Line. A public transport journey involving both bus and metro runs longer than the drive, so most residents drive.

By car, Downtown Dubai is roughly 22 kilometres and about 19 to 20 minutes via E311, and Dubai International Airport is roughly 41 kilometres and about 26 minutes. Both figures come from route aggregators rather than an official source, so treat them as approximate.

Schools and nurseries

The developer states nine schools operate in the community, and its own FAQ names five directly: Wonder Years Nursery, Victory Heights Primary School, Dwight School Dubai, Renaissance School and IDEA Learning Centre.

GEMS United School Sports City, which teaches a US curriculum from Pre-K to Grade 12, and the newer GEMS School of Research and Innovation which opened in August 2025, also serve the area. Those two come from press and third-party sources rather than the developer, so verify curriculum and fee details directly with the school.

Malls and retail

City Centre Me'aisem in the International Media Production Zone, near the Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road intersection, is the nearest named mall, anchored by a Carrefour hypermarket and reachable by RTA bus.

For a larger trip, Mall of the Emirates is reachable via the F37 feeder bus from the Arena Tower. We are not publishing a precise distance to either, because no source we could rely on gives one.

Sport and leisure

Six major venues sit inside the community. Dubai International Stadium is a 25,000-seat multi-purpose venue at Gate No.1 that has hosted international cricket including the 2018 Asia Cup Final. The ICC Academy, a partnership between the International Cricket Council and Dubai Sports City, runs two floodlit ODI-accredited ovals, a 38-bay outdoor practice facility and an indoor centre.

The Els Club is a 7,538-yard championship desert-links course designed by Ernie Els, bordering the Victory Heights villa community. A 5,000-seat Rugby Park also sits within the community.

One thing worth stating plainly rather than letting a buyer assume: the planned 10,000-capacity DSC Indoor Arena has been reported as halted since the 2008 recession. It is a planned venue, not a built one.

Questions buyers ask about Dubai Sports City

Is Dubai Sports City connected to the Dubai Metro?

There is no metro station inside Dubai Sports City itself. RTA feeder buses connect the community to the Red Line: route F34 runs to Dubai Internet City Metro Station and route F37 runs to Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, making the Red Line reachable via a short bus link rather than a walk-in station.

How far is Dubai Sports City from Downtown Dubai?

Roughly 22 km by road via Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), about a 19 to 20 minute drive depending on traffic.

What sports venues are actually inside the community?

Six major venues sit within Dubai Sports City: the 25,000-seat Dubai International Stadium, the ICC Academy for cricket training in partnership with the International Cricket Council, The Els Club championship golf course designed by Ernie Els, a football academy, a multi-sport Sports Park, and the Real Madrid Foundation EFP Dubai academy.

Are there schools within Dubai Sports City, or do residents have to travel?

Yes, there are schools within the community. The developer's own FAQ names five serving it directly: Wonder Years Nursery, Victory Heights Primary School, Dwight School Dubai, Renaissance School and IDEA Learning Centre. GEMS United School and the newer GEMS School of Research and Innovation also serve the Sports City area.

What residential options exist in Dubai Sports City, villas or apartments?

Both. Victory Heights offers close to 1,000 villas and townhouses set around The Els Club fairways, while Canal Residence West offers apartment towers along a canal promenade, both within the same master community.

Is there a golf course residents can access, and who designed it?

Yes. The Els Club, a 7,538-yard championship desert-links course designed by three-time Major champion Ernie Els, sits inside Dubai Sports City and borders the Victory Heights villa community.
